HIIT workouts

I use a skipping rope and body weight exercises to create workouts that are fun and a little different.

I typically do HIIT workouts (High Intensity Interval Training), which is where you incorporate periods of rest and high intensity into your workout.

I often pick 5 exercises and do 30 seconds of activity, 30 seconds of rest. and I repeat that 4-5 times to make a 15-20 minute workout.

don't be put off by the name 'high intensity' - I do 5 workouts a week and I go 'all out' on two of them. the other three workouts I go at about 80 percent intensity.

because I don't push myself too hard all the time, I find it much easier to be consistent.

and if you're wanting to feel good and reap the benefits of regular exercise, being consistent is the most important thing!

here's an example of a workout (as seen in the video above):

  1. regular bounce (30 seconds on/30 seconds rest)
  2. squat with rope overhead (30 seconds on/30 seconds rest)
  3. boxer skip (30 seconds on/30 seconds rest)
  4. crunches - I find these so hard! (30 seconds on/30 seconds rest)
  5. running on the spot (30 seconds on/30 seconds off)

repeat that four times and you've done a full body workout that'll make you feel great!

I feel great just writing about it!

tip: download a free interval timer for your phone to help keep time.

another tip: modify the exercises or switch it up to include more of the ones you like.

jumprope workouts are for everyone of all fitness levels!
