regular bounce

now you're rope is a suitable length you're ready to start skipping. 

The first is move you'll learn is called 'regular bounce', or 'basic bounce'. 

It looks simple but there's quite a lot to it. Get your foundations right and everything else will go smoothly. 

Here's my tips from the ground up:

1. land on the balls of your feet. your heels shouldn't touch the ground, but you don't want to be on your tippy toes.

2. don't jump too high. 1-2 inches is perfect. 

3. keep a slight bend in the knees. don't kick your feet back when you jump.

4. hands should be close to your hips. flick your hands forward to move the rope (like shaking a maraca) - rather than draw circles with your wrists.

5. elbows tucked back, not in! this is really important for maintaining control of the rope and increasing your speed.

6. shoulders back, not hunched over.

7. count. 1, 2, 3, 4 - 1, 2, 3, 4 - 1, 2, 3, 4. This will be really useful for getting the timing right!

8. breathing. so important but rarely spoken about. breathe in as you count 1 and 2, breathe out as you count 3 and 4. Give it a go right now!

This will help with your efficiency and you'll be able to skip for days!
